Syndrome of Stein-Leventhal gynecology considers, as a set of symptomatic manifestations, indicating a disruption in the functioning of the ovaries, pancreas, adrenal cortex of the hypothalamic-pituitary system. Against the background of such changes in the reproductive system, directly on the ovaries, in the syndrome, multiple outgrowths are formed, which are filled with serous fluid, and cysts form.
PCOS - the causes of
Comprehensive examination and long-term follow-up of women with the syndrome, determined such a factor of its development, as insulin resistance. Immediately it is often the starting point of the development of the Stein-Levental syndrome. In this condition, the sensitivity of the female organism to insulin is sharply reduced. In the blood, the concentration of the hormone increases, which provokes excessive secretion of androgens in the ovaries. Under their action, the structure and functioning of the sexual glands of a woman change.
With Stein-Leventhal syndrome, as a result of an increase in androgens in the blood, a woman observes a violation of the processes of ovulation, which manifests itself in the long absence of pregnancy in her planning. The outer shell of the follicle thickens, ovulation is difficult and does not occur. Gradually, it begins to fill with fluid, turning into a cyst. With the multiple presence of such formations, the Stein-Levental symptom develops. As a result, the ovaries of a woman turn into a cluster of small cysts.
PCOS tests
Before concluding and diagnosing "Stein-Levental's disease", doctors prescribe numerous studies. Among such special importance are:
- Ultrasound;
- a blood test for hormones;
- biochemistry of blood.
During the blood test for hormones with Stein-Leventhal syndrome, an elevated level of luteinizing hormone, androgens, is established, a decrease in the concentration of progesterone in phase 2 of the cycle. For the accuracy of this method, the blood is examined three times during the menstrual cycle: in 1 phase, in ovulation, in phase 2. If there are no periods, the analysis is carried out with an interval of 7-10 days.
In a biochemical test in the diagnosis of the disorder, "Stein-Levental syndrome" draw attention to the concentration of glucose and cholesterol - signs of impaired metabolism, which is always observed in polycystic disease. The final diagnosis of "Stein-Levental Syndrome" is based on ultrasound data. It reveals the multiplicity of the violation, the size of individual entities, in order to develop tactics of therapeutic measures.
