The cleverest breed of dogs

There are a lot of disputes about the intellectual abilities of dogs. But the mind of the dog has not yet been studied enough to justifiably explain certain moments of their behavior. During various studies and observations, it was revealed which breeds of dogs are the most intelligent, how dogs react to different situations, how they develop reflexes to stimuli. But it is worth considering that the rating of the most intelligent dogs depends on the criteria by which their abilities are determined. For example, if the main criterion is the ability to learn, then top smart dogs are headed by border collies, which are easy to train. Dogs breed Border Collie able to work both as a security dog and as a nanny. The second place in this list is taken by a poodle, followed by a German shepherd. At the same time, such a clever breed of dogs as the Chow Chow occupies only 75th place, despite the fact that these dogs have very developed intellectual abilities. A low position in the rating is due to the fact that the chow will not execute the team unless it deems it necessary. The same goes for Caucasian Shepherds, when training some teams do not even work out. For example, the Caucasian Shepherd will not defend the master in training from a front-line attacker. She perfectly understands that there is no threat, but if she manages to outwit her and she believes that the attack is real, then the attacker will be in great danger, since the dog behaves unpredictably in such situations. The same goes for Laikas. They act on the basis of the situation, and may be disobedient. This behavior does not indicate a low level of intelligence. For a long time the huskies were the companions of man in the harsh conditions of the north. People had to rely largely on the flair, smell and hearing of their dogs, for example, the dogs in the harness could stop or take the master absolutely in the other direction if they felt danger, for example, cracks in the ice. Thus, they have formed a certain understanding of the relationship with man, blind submission is not inherent in this breed, and yet their ability to make their own decisions and act as required in a particular situation is indicative of very high intellectual abilities.

Each breed of dog was bred or tamed by man for specific purposes, and therefore it is difficult to determine which breed is the most intelligent. For example, even the most intelligent dog, deduced for protection, can not be useful in hunting, and the dog companion, who understands his master from a half-word, knows a lot of teams, can not herd, or properly guard the territory. That is why it is impossible to determine the most intelligent breed of dogs. It is also impossible to determine who is smarter than a cat or a dog. Cats completely differently adapt in the environment, think differently and perceive information. Moreover, the cat will not do anything contrary to its desire, even if it understands what is required of it. A clever dog may also not perform commands that he does not deem appropriate, but still his behavior and attitude to the owner will be significantly different from the behavior of cats.

In addition to the abilities inherent in a particular breed, much depends on education and on heredity. Even the most intelligent dog, if improperly educated, may lose its qualities. For example, a Labrador retriever is considered to be a balanced and easily trained dog, which is used as a guide dog for rescue and police service. With such a list of advantages, Labradors occupy one of the first places in the statistics of attacks on people. This paradox is explained by the fact that, hoping for the quality of the breed, the owners did not pay proper attention to education, which resulted in disobedience and aggression. If before the acquisition of the puppy, the future owners will know exactly what qualities their pet should have, how much time they can give for training, what upbringing and nursing are necessary for the dog, then they will be able to select the appropriate breed and grow a very intelligent dog.
