Fahlen is a decorative dog, which was known in Europe 700 years ago. This is one of the varieties of continental toy spaniels. Once there were several species of the breed, now only two remained - the Fahlen and the Papillon. Outwardly they are similar, their main difference is the shape of the ears. The breed of dogs is famous for its ears, which from the birth take a hanging position. Because of this form of ears, it is called a moth (falen from the French translates as "moth", "moth"). The papillon has standing ears and looks like butterfly wings.
Where the fallen genus is for certain unknown, but active breeding and study was conducted in Belgium and France. Because of their aristocratic appearance, the dogs became models of such famous masters of fine art as Rubens, Van Dyck, Titian and others. The high society of France adored this breed. Moreover, the dog not only decorated the nobility's houses, but also served as catchers for rats.
