Have you decided to settle a German shepherd at your site? Then you will definitely need an enclosure for her. In such a construction the dog will hide from the weather. Aviary will help to avoid various troubles during the visit to you guests. Let's find out how to make an aviary for a German shepherd with our own hands.

How to build a cage for a shepherd?

  1. For a dog enclosure, a suitable place should be chosen. It is better if it is a dry area, located in the penumbra. The size of the enclosure for a German shepherd must be determined by the dimensions of the animal itself. For work you will need:
  • The next stage is the creation of a drawing of the future enclosure for the sheep-dog, which must take into account the location of the enclosure. To optimize construction costs, you can use, for example, a wall of a garage or a shed as one of the walls.
  • Now we prepare the area for the enclosure. It is best to pave it or concrete it. However, you can just flatten the ground on it and cover it with a roofing felt or roofing felt. On the contour of the site we make a low curb, on which the enclosure will be installed.
  • The floor in the enclosure is best made wooden. He is warm, caring for him is simple. By knocking down the floorboard, the boards are very tightly tied to each other. Otherwise, the claw of the dog may fall into the gaps between the boards, and it is injured. Under the shield it is better to lay lags or brick supports, then it will not sag. It is even better to lay a wooden plank on a frame of pipes.
  • The walls of the cage are attached to each other and to the floor using self-tapping screws: this will be safer for the dog. More often, two or three walls in the enclosure are made of wood, and one or two others are made of reinforced rods, the gap between which should not exceed 10 cm. A door is made in this lattice.
  • It remains to build a roof over the enclosure. It must necessarily have a slope for water drainage. To do this, one, often the back wall of the enclosure is about 15 cm taller than the rest. Cover the roof can be a slate.
  • In the finished enclosure we put a box in which the dog will sleep. In the next corner we set up a feeding bowl and a drinking bowl. Now you can settle in the enclosure of your pet.
