Which linoleum is better for the kitchen?

When repairing, the question often arises, which linoleum is best for the kitchen. Due to its performance characteristics - water resistance, unpretentious care and ease of installation, it is a popular and popular floor covering.

Basic quality criteria for linoleum

Linoleum has six layers of polymer material, available in rolls. It consists of a base, a fiberglass, a foamed polyvinyl chloride with an image and a protective material.

The material on the foamy basis is elastic, soft and strong, it is not afraid of humidity and dirt, it fits perfectly for the kitchen. Determining which linoleum is better for laying in the kitchen, you need to know the level of wear resistance and abrasion.

The abrasion class is calculated as the degree of wear of the outer protective layer in a certain mode. There are four groups: the most solid T (0.08 mm); slightly abraded P (0.15 mm); medium abradeable M (0.3 mm); highly abradable F (0.6 mm).

The level of wear resistance divides the coating into three classes: from residential premises (21-23) to industrial facilities (41-43). The European classification in this case provides for a two-digit marking.

The higher the thickness of the upper protective layer, which retains the pattern, the longer the material will last. Linoleum is usually divided into household (thickness 0.1-0.3 mm, class 21-23), semi-commercial (0.4-0.5 mm, class 31-32) and commercial (0.6 class 33 and more).

Deciding which class of linoleum to choose for the kitchen, it is recommended to buy a commercial or semi-commercial. They have a high degree of wear resistance. For the kitchen, the use of a coating with a class of at least 23, but optimally 32-33, will be optimal. It will withstand the falling of sharp and heavy objects, suitable for premises with pets and for a zone with intensive loads. Linoleum of this quality is distinguished by a service life of 15-20 years.

Another criterion that needs to be considered when choosing which linoleum to put in the kitchen is an extra layer of varnish. It prevents the infiltration of various contaminants into the structure and simplifies cleaning. Glossy varnish creates the effect of a shiny floor.

Also, attention should be paid to the choice of colors that would fit the general interior of the room. Very popular is linoleum with imitation of parquet, wood, tile, stone.

Correctly selected linoleum for the kitchen will please the eye with its design and will last for a long time.
