World Day of Homeless Animals

The World Day for the Protection of Homeless Animals falls on every third Saturday of August. The event was established in 1992 by the decision of the International Community for the Protection of Animal Rights. A similar proposal was supported by the zoological formations of many countries. This day is designed to remind humanity of the problem of irresponsible treatment of our lesser homeless brothers, the need to take an active part in their destiny.

Homeless animals are an acute problem

Animals are on the street for several reasons. Or they are left unattended by a person who does not want to load himself with problems and throws the pet out of the house, or a four-legged friend can get lost. Then there is a reproduction of dogs and cats in conditions of unsanitary conditions. The animals thrown out on the street wander, suffer from cold, hunger, disease and die. But they could brighten someone's life, to benefit the person.

Such animals have some threat to society. They litter in public places, carry infectious diseases , fleas, lice, rabies .

To the streets were fewer starving animals, which are painful to look at, it is necessary to eliminate the root cause of the phenomenon itself. First, everyone needs to start with himself. Take care of pets, do not throw them to the mercy of fate. The task of the day is to encourage owners of pets to prevent the replenishment of the ranks of disadvantaged quadrupeds.

And if in the street there will be a miserable little animal - to shelter, feed, try to attach it to the nursery or to the new owner. In any case, do not offend, do not beat and so unhappy animal.

How is the holiday celebrated?

Rather, such a date can be called not a holiday, but a day that is called upon to address the sufferings of four-footed people caught on the street, to inform a large number of people about their tragic life.

In the International Day of Protection of Homeless Animals, activists involved in the life of vagrant tetrapods are involved. Volunteers, volunteers conduct numerous activities that are aimed at reducing the number of such dogs and cats.

In many countries at the state level, there are programs to sterilize homeless vagrants. They are not euthanized in nurseries, but sterilized, vaccinated and released to freedom, marking with characteristic chips. Such an animal can be seen right away - it is not contagious and safe for others and its fellow humans.

There are states, for example, Great Britain and Austria, in which brutal treatment of animals is punished. On this day, public organizations carry out actions to help homeless animals, charitable and educational events. The attention of society is drawn to the need to build shelters for their settlement, which are often lacking, and universal humane sterilization.

Sterilization and chipping, vaccination is an excellent way to control the population of vagabond dogs and cats. Activists organize contests, concerts, raise money to help four-legged people with a tragic fate. Some veterinary clinics on the holiday make free sterilization.

This day is an excellent chance to find the owner of a stray dog or cat.

The question of caring for stray four-legs is worth special attention. After all, we are "responsible for those who have tamed" and should provide them with feasible medical and other help, humanely reduce the number of destitute animals.

Animal Protection Day is a reminder to a person that he can save someone's life and find himself a faithful devoted friend.
