The holiday is celebrated every year on 12 July . Concerning the date, there are different theories, one of which is described below.

The history of the holiday - the Day of the photographer

To begin with, he has a second name - St. Veronica's Day. This woman gave the cloth to Jesus, who was going to Calvary to wipe the sweat from his face. After that, His face remained on the cloth. When photography was invented, St. Papa's decree, Saint Veronica, was declared the patroness of all photographers.

As for the history of the photo itself, here we turn to the XIX century: in 1839 the daguerreotype became available to the world community; in other words, the first technology, allowing to obtain photographic images, became available. At the end of the XIX century photography became more widespread, and a recognized profession appeared. And in 1914 they began to create small cameras that made the process of creating a photo much more convenient.

And the date of the Day of the photographer, according to the popular version, is connected with the fact that on July 12 George Eastman, the founder of the company Kodak was born.
