Student's day - holiday history

"From session to session" all students live quite cheerfully and even manage to celebrate many holidays. And of course one of the most beloved of them is Student Day . The history of the Taning Day and the Student's Day are not very much related, but are celebrated in one day. And in some countries, particularly in Ukraine, this holiday is celebrated twice. Why did it happen?

History of the Day of Student

This day is celebrated on January 25 and November 17. At that, both dates have quite successfully taken root in the territory of the former CIS countries. It happened in the course of history that Tatiana's day and Student's Day fall on the same date, and the events have only an indirect connection.

First, there is no patroness of Tatyana's students, as one might think. The fact that it was January 25 was the day of the holy martyr Tatiana. She was the daughter of a Roman consul, who secretly in the years of the most severe persecution of Christianity gave her daughter Christian upbringing. Tatiana died in torment for her faith and did not abandon her, and later was ranked as a saint.

What is the connection between this story and the Student's Day holiday? Everything is very simple. The date of signing the document on the opening of the Moscow University by the empress Elizabeth itself fell on January 25, as it was the day of the mother's name Shuvalov (he even applied for the opening of the university). Later, Saint Tatiana was regarded as the patroness of the entire Russian student body.

Throughout history Day of the student that day was celebrated loudly with noisy festivities. And in 2005, according to the decree of the President, the holiday became official and now it is the Day of Russian Students.

And what about November 17? The history of the student's Day begins with the signing in Prague of a document according to which the World Students Congress has set a day in which the memory of Czech student patriots will be honored. That's actually the whole story of Student's Day, but at the expense of celebrating this date, everything is much more interesting. As a rule, Student's Day is very fun and noisy with different competitions , because after it sessions begin and it's a kind of time-out before the exams.
