That is why in the world there is a wonderful holiday dedicated to specialists in the field of accounting, auditing and no one to understand, reports - the International Day of the accountant, celebrated in the world on November 16. This profession requires a person to think analytically, to understand the language of figures, to be able in any situation to promptly take the enterprise out of the crisis and save it from unnecessary financial losses. When the International Day of the accountant is celebrated, and what is the history of the appearance of this professional holiday, we will tell you in detail now.

What is the International Accounting Day?

Since most countries have already celebrated their Accountant's Day for many years, the UNESCO organization proposed a brilliant idea - to give this holiday the status of the International.

The history of the day, dedicated to this exact profession, has its long history. To understand what events are connected with the choice of the International Accountant's Day date - November 10, we will for a while plunge into the events that took place in Italy in the distant 15th century. In the wonderful era of the Renaissance, an outstanding economist and scholar, Luca Paciolli, lived in Venice . It was this person who played a key role in the formation of modern methods of conducting commercial accounting. In 1494, Pacioli published his work, known throughout the world, entitled "Everything about arithmetic, geometry and proportion." In the book, the author tried to combine all knowledge about the mathematics of that era. However, the most interesting part of the scripture was the chapter "About accounts and other records", which played a decisive role in choosing the date for the celebration of the International Day of the accountant. In it, the author described in detail the main methods of accounting, which were subsequently successfully applied in the creation of modern works on commercial accounting.

All the subsequent centuries, economists took for a basis the terms and methods set forth by Pacioli in his legendary work. That is why the scientist also began to be called the "father of accounting". However, this opinion is erroneous. The great economist, undoubtedly, made a huge contribution to the development of accounting, but the basis of his work was the rules that Italian merchants used, keeping records of goods sold.

An interesting fact is that Venetian traders in turn used an example of accounting from ancient Roman works. It is impossible not to mention the fact that Greece , Egypt and many eastern countries already had their own manner of accounting at that time. Nevertheless, today International Accountant Day is dedicated to the appearance of the first printed book of Luka Pacioli. Of course, there is a certain sense in this, in spite of everything, the author of the book All About Arithmetic, Geometry and Proportions, who gave the world the basic knowledge for the full work of an accountant deserves special recognition and perpetuation.

Also, thanks in part to this man, millions of accountants are receiving congratulations from the world today. In every country there are different traditions. So, for example, in the USA on the International Day of the bookkeeper distinguished workers are awarded with cash prizes and gifts. In the UK, it is customary to congratulate the heroes of the celebration with symbolic souvenirs, cakes in the form of bills, a computer and a calculator.
