The flight attendant's work is rightly considered one of the most romantic in the world. Everyone knows these girls in beautiful form, at least according to numerous films. However, in fact, the work of stewards and stewardesses is much more serious than we think.
History of the holiday
Known a whole holiday dedicated to such people - the World Flight Attendant Day, or, as it is officially called, the World Day of the Civil Aviation Flight Attendant.
This profession has existed for more than eighty years: for the first time the need for flight attendant services was considered in Germany , and in 1928 there was a first flight with the participation of such a person.
The popular image of the female flight attendant, described above, originated in the United States. An attractive girl serving passengers would certainly become a kind of adornment and advertisement. And it happened, and this tradition has survived to this day.
The first stewardess in the world is, presumably, the American Ellen Church. By the way, this woman excelled and other actions: so, for work as a nurse on an airplane during the Second World War, she received a number of medals. In her honor, even called an airfield. It is also known that she was instructed to recruit the same girls in the first group of stewardesses. They were seven nurses.
Traditions of the holiday
As on the day of any other professional holiday, on July 12, the World Day of the flight attendant, various events are held, increasing the prestige of the stewards and flight attendants. This is an international holiday, bringing together specialists in different countries of the world, and Russia is no exception. So, the Russians gather behind the festive tables, wish each other success and successful work, and also the traditional wish that the number of take-offs coincide with the number of landings.
On the TV there are the programs devoted to the details of the flight attendant's work. Representatives of this profession act in them, telling about their experience, sharing stories from life. Also popular is the outdoor celebration: a picnic, dishes on open fire and swimming in water.
The task of stewards and stewardesses is to do everything to make passengers comfortable. It may seem simple in favorable circumstances, but in case of danger these people are obliged not to lose the presence of spirit and help the others. Therefore, the World Civil Aviation Day flight attendant, celebrated on July 12, is a holiday dedicated to serious people and a serious profession.
