Make a wax candle with your own hands is not at all difficult, it does not take too much time or big financial costs. To make original candles with our own hands, we will need the following materials and tools:
- ordinary white candles, you can use the remains of candles, but it is important that they do not have soot from burning (if soot is still there, it is very easy to get rid of it with a knife or skin);
- candle wick;
- molds for making candles (absolutely any shape of any material - jars of coffee, other metal and plastic packages, children's molds, etc.);
- clothespin or pencil (one of these items is necessary for us to lubricate the wick with wax);
- dishes for a steam bath (a pan with a lid for boiling water and a bowl in which the wax will be melted with the rest of the ingredients);
- colored wax crayons for making colorful candles.
Now let's get to work:
1. We rub the remains of candles on a large grater for better subsequent melting, and also to be sure that the remainder of the wick and other impurities do not enter the total mass.
2. In order to give the candle a different color, add colored wax pencils, grated.
3. Now we prepare everything necessary for a water bath. We collect a little water in the pan, put a metal bowl in it, into which we pour grated candles and a pencil of a certain color, cover it with a lid. We melt on a water bath pieces of candles. In order to make an aromatic candle with your own hands, at this stage it is necessary to add also aromatic substances. It can be special oils that are easy to pick up on the fragrance for all occasions and tastes, and you can use coffee, cinnamon, vanilla and other fragrant products from your kitchen.
4. We put the wick in the wax several times, cover it with wax and fix it in the molding strictly in the middle.
5. Pour liquid wax into the mold, pre-lubricated with vegetable oil, and wait until it completely cools. Thanks to the lubrication of the mold, the candle is very easy to reach.
6. Our candles are ready, we will proceed to decorating them. There are many ways to decorate candles, most often a candle is sprinkled with coffee or sparkles, pasted with bamboo and cinnamon. With the help of a hot spoon you can make decoupage or paste asterisks.
7. More delicately look pieces of dried fruits, cinnamon, shells, dried flowers, seeds, spread out along the edges of the mold before pouring candles
