Men are an integral part of our society. And this is due not only to the fact that in the labor market there are professions that are not subject to the female sex. The social significance of a man in the life of an individual woman or child makes him irreplaceable in our society. That's why men are dedicated to holidays throughout the world.
What day is the male day?
In the countries of the former Union, it is customary to consider Day of Defender of the Fatherland as a masculine day. Why February 23 - this is a men's day is difficult to guess. After all, initially the holiday was dedicated to servicemen, and for today in the army you can meet a considerable number of women. But congratulations on February 23 are dedicated only to men.
In addition, in different countries there are national holidays dedicated to men. So in Russia, the international men's day, Mikhail Gorbachev was invited to celebrate on the first Saturday of November. But little is known about this day and the popularity is not enough for the holiday.
In fact, the International Men's Day is celebrated on November 19. For the first time it was celebrated in 1999 in the island state of Trinidad and Tobago, located in the Caribbean Sea. But the initiator of the holiday is Jerome Tylunsingh, who determined the date of the celebration of his father's birthday.
The history of the holiday and its celebration
The idea of creating a holiday similar to the International Women's Day, appeared in the middle of the last century. Strange as it sounds, but the problem of gender discrimination has affected men. This is mainly expressed in the social inequality of the sexes. After all, in most countries of the world, the judicial system and guardianship agencies always stand for the protection of the interests of the mother, and only in rare cases do fathers receive custody of children. In addition, the United Nations is seriously concerned about the health of men. The events timed to the International Men's Day always reflect one or more of the problems facing the society and are exclusively about men. In different years, the goals of the celebration became the solution of such questions:
- approval of the positive role model of a man in society. Most often, only well-known personalities appear to the general review, and worthy and honest people, who surround us daily, remain unnoticed;
- the allocation of a positive contribution of men to society and the state as a whole, and to the family and the upbringing of children in particular;
- the need to draw public attention to the problems of men's health, physical, spiritual and social well-being;
- discrimination of men in the social sphere;
- equalization of relations between men and women, as well as prevention of gender inequality;
- creation of conditions for development and full disclosure of the potential of men.
In order to achieve the set goals on the World Men's Day, the participating countries hold thematic seminars that reveal men's problems,
To date, more than 60 countries have joined the celebration of the International Men's Day. Among them are the USA, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, France , China, India , etc. The "Women and Gender Inequality" program, organized with UNESCO in all, supports the development of the holiday, and looks forward to further cooperation. But, unfortunately, the holiday is not very popular yet and men's problems remain unnoticed. However, considering that it appeared only in 1999, one can hope for greater fame in the future.
