And this is not accidental, because a dog of this breed is adapted to work in the forest, in the field, and on the water. The breed draathaar was bred by crossing the griffin of Cortals, stihhelhaar and poodle pointer. It is because of this the breed turned out so versatile. And the most important feature of dogs of the breed drachara is their hard wool : in German, draathaar means "wire-haired".

Drathaar is the breed standard

According to the description of the breed draathaar, this is a dog that belongs to a group of pugilious dogfriends. All movements of the dog are noble, sweeping and smooth. Its body looks almost square. Males have a height of 61-68 cm at the withers, and bitches are slightly lower - 57-64 cm.

The head of the dog is harmonious and has a wedge shape. On the skull there are well-defined superciliary arches and a beard. The nose of the nose is pigmented, the lips fit tightly to the jaw.

The look of the drathaara is attentive and expressive, the eyes are often dark, the ears are widely planted. The dog has a well-defined withers, strong back and low back. Undocked tail can reach the hock.

The stiff short coat is tight against the skin. The dense undercoat has water-repellent properties. Acceptable colors - brown and black with gray hair and pure gray.

Drathaar - everything about the character

The hunter draathaar has a firm and intrepid character. But with it, the dog is easily manageable and obedient. She can be a good guard, because she feels the territory perfectly. The dog is balanced, not aggressive, but not cowardly. Due to the complaisant nature of the dog is a good friend, especially tender it refers to children, with whom he likes to play different outdoor games. Drathaar needs his master's attention, as well as constant physical activity. Without this, the dog will be nervous and bored, and its behavior will deteriorate, the puppy can start chewing forgotten shoes, etc.

However, all the positive qualities of drathaara are revealed in hunting. It can be used to hunt waterfowl and in the field for quails, moose or wild boars. Drathaar is adapted to work on the hunt both before and after the shot. These dogs are able to move absolutely silently in the forest, and an excellent scent helps them to get game from the swamps and other hard-to-reach places.
