Many are confident that growing a palm tree at home is a busy occupation, requiring incessant care and superhuman efforts. In fact, every southern beauty can grow, just do not make common mistakes:
- Despite the established stereotype that the palm trees adore sunlight, it is not recommended to expose them to the sun. In fact, these plants do not need direct sunlight, but in a soft diffused light. Therefore, the best place for them will be to the west or east rooms, with mandatory shading in the form of blinds or light curtains.
- Palms can not be located near the heating devices and open windows, as they react very painfully to any air currents.
- The root system of palms is very tender and absolutely does not tolerate cold, so
they should not be put on a cold floor or a window sill. - Although most palm trees are originally desert inhabitants, they are very sensitive to watering. Water them often and abundantly, not allowing, however, overflows. And, of course, water can only be used for this purpose. In addition, it is not superfluous to occasionally arrange a palm shower from an atomizer.
- Young palms need an annual transplant, and in adult palms, the soil in the pot is renewed by replacing the top layer. In any case, for a full-fledged growth the plant must be regularly fertilized.
- And most importantly - in the upper part of the stem at the palm is a growth point, the removal of which inevitably leads to the death of the whole plant.
