Palma yucca - reproduction

Reproduction of the plant occurs in several ways:

  1. Offsprings - leafy processes. They can be safely removed, it will only benefit the palm tree. The offspring are kept in containers with wet sand at a temperature of at least 20 ° C and high humidity. In two months, the roots will appear and the offspring will be ready for a transplant.
  2. The cut off top . In spring or early summer, the plant can be cut off the top of a length of 5-10 cm. It is placed in a container with wet sand, which is kept in a pot with boiled water at room temperature. Add to the water charcoal, which prevents the appearance of bacteria. After the appearance of the roots, the apex is transplanted into the ground.
  3. Segments of the trunk . For this, a part of the trunk is cut from the palm tree and placed on the wet sand horizontally. Over time, the trunk will have kidneys, which are then transformed into young shoots. The shoots form roots, and they are ready to plant in the soil. To do this, the trunk is cut into pieces, dividing the individual shoots with roots.
  4. Fresh seeds . They are planted in a soil mixture, which consists of sand, foliage and turf. Seeds before planting soak for a day in warm water. A pot of planted seeds is covered with glass, which is removed every day for ventilation. Sprouts appear in a month.
