About how to multiply the yucca palm tree and will be discussed in our article.

Yucca: reproduction at home

At home, reproduction of yucca can be done in several ways:

  1. Reproduction of yucca cuttings . On the tree trunk of yucca is a lot of sleeping buds, which are able to give shoots under favorable conditions. But the life activity of yucca is arranged in such a way that while on its upper part there is a crown, all the nutrients will be sent there. Therefore, lateral shoots are in a dormant state, and if they even awaken, they will quickly die. If the crown with a yucca is cut, then below the cut, new leaves are formed. This feature of the yucca palm tree is used for its reproduction. This is done like this: an extended table is cut into lengths of about 20 cm and rooted in light soil (a mixture of sand and peat) and arrange a mini-teplichku, covering the pot with a plastic film. The most optimal time for breeding yucca cuttings - the end of winter-early spring (February-April).
  2. Reproduction of yucca seeds. For this type of reproduction, only fresh seeds are suitable, which must be soaked for a day in water before planting, and then planted in a mixture of peat and sand. A pot of seeded seeds, as in the case of cuttings, should be covered with a film or glass and regularly ventilated. In 30-40 days, the first seedlings will appear.
  3. Reproduction of yucca by lateral processes . For this method of breeding yucca you need a sharp knife to gently cut off the lateral process with a small section of the bark and root it in a sandy-peat mixture. Place cut on the barrel should be sprinkled with wood or activated charcoal for disinfection. Within 20-30 days lateral process will take root.

Yucca Garden: Reproduction

Yucca garden , as well as room, can be propagated in three ways:

  1. Reproduction of yucca by garden dividing rhizomes. In the beginning of spring, from the rhizomes of the garden yucca, cuttings 3-5 cm long are cut. Before planting the pieces, the rhizomes are dried for 4-5 hours, and then planted in a light sandy loamy soil to a depth of 50-70 mm.
  2. Reproduction of yucca by garden offspring . During the summer, the root shoots grow in the lower part of the yucca garden. In autumn they are carefully separated from the mother plant and planted in pre-prepared containers with fertile soil. After planting, the shoots should be watered abundantly and covered with a glass jar. The process of root formation on the appendage is quite long and during this entire time it is necessary to ventilate the mini-greenhouse and monitor the moisture content of the soil. It is very important not to hurry up and wait for the full rooting of the appendage, and only then transplant it into the open ground.
  3. Reproduction of yucca garden seeds . Garden yucca, just like a room yukku, can be grown from seeds. Seeds are used only fresh, and before sowing necessarily soak. After sowing seeds of yucca garden in a container with soil in March-April, a mini-greenhouse is built, covering the container with polyethylene or glass. After a month, the yucca will be pleased with the first shoots, which dive into pots one by one and in 12-18 months are planted in the open ground.
