Wall panels for the corridor

Why is the corridor designed much more difficult than the usual hallway square shape? The fact is that you have to take into account the degree of contact with the walls, because in a narrow room they can not be avoided. Because many housewives with horror represent the process of cleaning the washable wallpaper from the next arrival of the guest in slushy weather. Currently, using the panels for the corridor in the apartment, several issues are solved at once: cleaning and care, ease of installation, the opportunity to save money and do it all with one's own hand. So, what are these panels?

Panels on the walls in the corridor: tiles or rack systems?

We will begin our choice with the form of the finishing material. The most common option is the tile. Indeed, the panels of the tile type are very similar to ordinary tiles. But on the reverse side you do not have to apply glue solution, there is fixed system of fastening "spike-groove". As a rule, they are used more for finishing some area of the corridor, but the option with systematic filling of the entire wall also has a place to be. At what there are tiles of the different form, with originally furnish that gives you a wide field for experiments and design decisions. The wall panels of the rack-type type for the corridor are incredibly similar to the usual lining. The fastening system is exactly the same as for the tile version. The length of such a rail usually reaches 6 m, the width is not more than 40 cm. There are shorter models with a length of 2.5 m.

And finally the third type of wall panels for the corridor is a sheet. This is something like a full panel, they are a bit flexible and fit very well with each other. This solution is ideal for corridors or hallways with non-standard sizes and shapes.

The choice of material for the corridor's finishing with wall panels

With the type of fastenings and the sizes of the main types, we sorted it out. Now let's proceed to the choice of the material, of which the panels are made. Here everything depends not only on your design requests and preferences, but also on the planned budget.

  1. Panels on the walls in the corridor in homes with poor noise insulation can be from MDF. They absorb sound perfectly. They are afraid only of conditions with increased temperature, but since they are not characteristic for the corridor and the hallway, MDF will retain its original appearance for a long time.
  2. The design of the corridor with plastic panels can also become very original due to the chosen coating. There are models with glossy and matte, different patterns or imitations of a particular material. And the cost will not be too expensive to afford.
  3. Finishing the corridor with wall panels made of real wood is not a cheap pleasure. But here it is important not only to buy high-quality and expensive finishing material, but also correctly "make it up" with the rest of the decoration and correctly pick up the design.
  4. One of the most democratic options in terms of prices - panels from chipboard and fiberboard. This is the case when your goal is to make everything "cheap and angry". But such panels are not considered to be strong and durable.
  5. When you want a combination of quality, eco-friendliness and spectacular solutions, choose a cork. Cork panels are also difficult to call affordable in terms of prices, but they behave quite differently than cheap chipboard panels. The material is fully ecological, it can be cleaned without fear, and from noise, it also saves as well as MDF boards.
  6. The so-called mirror polystyrene is an excellent substitute for plates from a real mirror. This is a solid coating, on top of which is applied a film under the mirror. It is not possible to break it, but it is difficult to distinguish it outwardly. This option is often combined with other types of tiles, used as a decoration for a separate zone.
