Thanks to such advantages as yield, unpretentiousness and, importantly for women, dietary properties, many gardeners are interested in its growing on their plots. How to grow cabbage broccoli in the country?
Growing broccoli in the open ground from seeds is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. You need to start with a conscientious preparation of the material for planting.
Take the seeds, soak them in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, then rinse them thoroughly. Next, the seeds should be placed for several hours in a growth stimulant. Seeds, prepared in this way, will ascend quickly, and young plants will develop better.
To plant broccoli in the open ground, you need to take seeds of early varieties, so that the cabbage has time to ripen before the cold comes. Since autumn, it is worthwhile to prepare the ground for planting, for this you need to dig up the area and fertilize it with compost or manure, and in the spring add some mineral fertilizers to the ground.
Soil and seeds are ready, it's time to start planting seeds. Between plants, the distance should be about 30 cm, and between rows of 55 cm. Seeds do not need to be deepened in the ground. After the seeds are planted, the beds are carefully and gently watered. Then each seed is covered with a five-liter plastic bottle with a cut-off neck. These greenhouses are removed only when at least three leaves appear on the plants.
Broccoli loves moist soil, so watering should be done every other day in the evening - in no case in the daytime heat. This culture is sprinkled with the method of sprinkling, after which the beds are loosened up.
Top dressing is carried out three times for the entire period. The first is worth making a few weeks after seeding. And it is better to make it an infusion of nettle and cow dung in the proportion of 10: 1. In the growing season, two additional fertilizing with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are made.
