Carpet embroidery

As you know, nothing is new under the moon, so the carpet technique of embroidery , so beloved by our mothers and grandmothers, is experiencing a second birth today. There are many reasons for this: firstly, embroidery with carpet technique looks very nice and cozy, and secondly, for it you can use a variety of threads that are not suitable for anything else. But first things first.

Carpet technique - master class

  1. So, what do we need for embroidery with carpet technique? First, a special needle. It can be found in the granaries of mothers-grandmothers or bought together with a special set for embroidery. Alternatively, you can do it yourself. Embroidery with a carpet needle differs from embroidery in the usual sense, because here on one side of the work are obtained stitches, and on the other - small loops.
  2. Do not do for embroidery in carpet technology and without a hoop, which will be placed fabric with the chosen pattern.
  3. Let's start with drawing the selected pattern on the fabric.
  4. Densely we pull a fabric with the drawing put on it in a frame.
  5. We fill the thread in the needle.
  6. While holding the needle at right angles to the surface of the fabric, we begin to embroider the contours of all the details of the pattern.
  7. In this case, from the wrong side of the work we will get stitches, and from the front - small loops.
  8. Embroidering the contour, fill the space of all elements of the drawing, moving in any order.
  9. After finishing the embroidery, we remove the work thread on the wrong side and cut it.
  10. Then we remove the fabric from the hoop and stretch it in warm water.

Carpet embroidery - tricks

As in any other case, carpet embroidery has its important moments:

  1. The base fabric when fastened in the hoop should be well stretched, without sagging. If the fabric starts to sag during work, then it is necessary to tighten it.
  2. The size of the hoop should be such that the picture in them is placed completely, because you can not rearrange the embroidered part of the embroidery frame.
  3. The transition from one color to another is performed as follows: the working thread is displayed on the wrong side and cut off, and then a thread of a new color is cut into the needle.

Crocheting equipment - workshop

Another type of carpet embroidery is the carpet technique crocheted. In this case, the work is done by a special hook, with which a pattern of small lengths of threads is created on the grid-basis. But first things first.

  1. Choose the picture you like. You can use any scheme for embroidery, but it is desirable to choose drawings without small details, as they will be difficult to see.
  2. We prepare the grid-basis. It is called strumin and it can be bought in shops for needlework. It represents a large interwoven dense canvas and is used for embroidering tapestries. Draw it with squares of 10 * 10 cells.
  3. To work, you will need a special curved hook, which can also be bought in handicraft shops.
  4. For work, you can take as unnecessary remnants of threads, and buy threads specifically. The best are acrylic threads of medium thickness.
  5. We cut the threads into lengths 3-4 cm long. The length of the pieces depends on how long the nap we want to get from our rug.
  6. Thread the thread through the net with the help of a hook, tightening the loop from the front side. The loop must be tightened tightly enough that the threads are firmly held on the base. Methodically fill the areas of the mat with threads of the same color, moving from site to site.
  7. At the same time, we also fold the sections of the grid, sealing them into work.
  8. We get here such a wonderful rug.
