Subsequent civil strife led to the fact that in 1945 a very valuable monastery library was burned. The structure also suffered as a result of the earthquake that occurred here in 1979. Restoration of Chelia Piperskaya was completed in 1994. By this time a bell tower was erected over the monastery entrance, and at the end of the last century an icon-painting school was opened.

At the end of the 20th century, a nunnery was formed here. Surrounded by powerful walls, the monastery today resembles a small medieval settlement. In the center of the architectural ensemble is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. On the south side of it lies the ark with the relics of the Monk S. Pipersky. Now in the monastery of Chelia Piperskaya there are 4 nuns, as well as 4 novices.
