Nurofen syrup composition
Active active substance of this medication is ibuprofen, which has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effect. The same ingredient is contained in a large number of medications for adults. Meanwhile, children's syrup Nurofen is developed taking into account the characteristics of a tiny organism and, according to the instruction, is suitable for use in newborn infants who are 3 months old.
Under the strict supervision of a doctor, the use of this remedy is also possible in children who have not reached this age, in those cases when the expected benefit from using it considerably exceeds the possible risks for the child's organism.
As auxiliary components, syrup of maltitol, water, glycerin, chloride, saccharinate and sodium citrate, citric acid and other ingredients are included in the Nurofen syrup composition. In addition, this product contains a strawberry or orange flavor, giving it a pleasant taste, thanks to which most small children take this syrup with pleasure.

How to take Nurofen syrup?
Since the drug has a pronounced antipyretic and analgesic effect, it is used to lower body temperature for colds, teething or in case of postvaccinal reaction, and also to relieve the condition with dental and headache, otitis and diseases of the throat cavity.
Giving a remedy to a small child is very convenient, because it is sold complete with a special syringe. Meanwhile, in order not to cause harm to the health of crumbs, it is necessary to know the exact dosage of Nurofen syrup by weight and age.
So, taking into account the weight of the baby, the permissible dose of the drug for one dose is calculated as follows: for 1 kilogram it is allowed to give from 5 to 10 mg. In turn, the daily dosage of the drug should not exceed 30 mg per 1 kg of body weight of crumbs. Based on the child's age, the syrup is dosed in the following way:
- babies from 3 months to half a year give 50 mg, or 2.5 ml, after 8 hours. In this case, the daily dose of the drug should not exceed 7.5 ml or 150 mg, respectively;
- children from 6 to 12 months can give 2.5 ml at the same intervals, but it should be borne in mind that a child can take no more than 10 ml or 200 mg of the drug per day;
- boys and girls aged 1 to 3 years can receive up to 5 ml of syrup every 8 hours. The daily dose in this case can not exceed 300 mg, or 15 ml of the drug;
- the scheme of taking the drug at the age of 4 to 6 years is as follows - 7.5 ml in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening, so that the total daily dose does not exceed 450 mg;
- schoolchildren from 7 to 9 years can be given 10 ml 3-4 times a day. More than 600 mg of the drug per day for children at this age can not be taken;
- finally, a single dose of the drug for children aged 10 to 12 years can not be more than 15 ml, or 300 mg. The daily dose should not exceed 900 mg.
