Dress-transformer yourself

Probably, every woman knows the situation when at the last moment you are warned about the upcoming event, and you urgently need to resolve the issue of evening dress. Or you just learn how to sew, and complex models of dresses are hard for you. And in that, and otherwise you will benefit from a universal model of evening dress - a dress-transformer .

Sew a dress-transformer

In order to sew a dress-transformer yourself, you will need only a fabric. Ideally, it should be monophonic, but you can combine matching shades, or make two-sided dresses by making two sides of different colors. In general, no restrictions! One strict rule is that the fabric should be light and flowing.

Also, for sewing a dress we will need paper for the pattern and, of course, a sewing machine.

In the master class, we show how to sew the two most famous and versatile kinds of dress-transformer.

How to sew a dress-transformer - step-by-step instruction:

  1. First of all, we need to make a pattern for sewing a dress. It will be large enough, so we will have to glue several pieces of paper.
  2. Now measure the length of the desired skirt, girth of the waist and make a pattern of a quarter of the skirt for the dress.
  3. Cut out the pattern.
  4. Now let's start working with the cloth. Fold it four times, apply the pattern to the center corner as shown in the picture.
  5. Next we circle our pattern with shallow or soap, after which we cut out.
  6. Now we cut out the belt for the dress. Cut out a rectangle 25 cm high, 75 in length.
  7. We are going to manufacture the sashes - the most important element of the dress, making it a transformer. To do this, the first thing to do is lay out the fabric on the floor.
  8. We will make two harnesses at the same time, for this we put our fabric in half along its length. Next, take the small sewing pins and note them two longitudinal lines at a distance of 30 cm from each other.
  9. Then we cut the fabric along the planned lines and get simultaneously two ready-made harnesses.
  10. The main components for tailoring dress-transformer ready, proceed directly to sewing. To begin, we will deploy our skirt.
  11. Next, take two of our harnesses, neatly spread out on a flat surface.
  12. And add them to a lap of centimeters by 10. We fix the position with pins.
  13. Now attach them to the skirt, as it is done in the picture.
  14. Next, take our belt, fold it in half in length and also attach it with pins to the skirt of the dress.
  15. Now we sew the belt, forming the waist circumference. It is desirable to use a thread in tone, however it is not important, since this part of the dress will never be visible.
  16. Next, sew all the elements of the dress. Let's try the resulting product on a mannequin.
  17. Now it is necessary to put it correctly:

Another variation of the winding of this dress-transformer:

We will show one more short master-class how to sew a dress-transformer, different from the previous one by the presence of a top. So, let's get started.

  1. First of all we will make a pattern. From the previous it will differ only in that instead of the belt we will make the top. Its length will be equal to the length of the belt in the previous instruction, the width will be 50 cm.
  2. First attach the harnesses to the skirt of the dress.
  3. Next, take the fabric for the top and fold it in half in width.
  4. We fasten it with pins along the circumference of the waist of the skirt.
  5. Now we sew all our design and get this dress-transformer!

Since the winding of the dress - it's not an easy task for a beginner, we'll show a few variations in detail.
