Ergonomics of the kitchen

Any hostess spends a lot of time in the kitchen. For its convenience and safety, each cabinet should be located at a certain distance from each other, the height of the hinged structures and much more are taken into account. Ergonomics of the kitchen and proper planning allow to take into account all these moments and create a really comfortable working place in the kitchen.

Ergonomics in interior design - how to arrange furniture?

Furniture for the kitchen is selected not only for the overall style or shape of the room. First of all, it is important to determine the place of cooking and the location of the shelves from the very beginning.

If you plan to take a small angle for the main work place, always remember the cabinet doors and drawers. Let's consider the basic sizes in ergonomics of kitchen which are already calculated and are optimum for the person of an average complexion.

  1. The distance, which is necessary for free movement and work, is about 150 cm. This is both the passage area and the working place provided an open cabinet. Thus, you can freely walk through the entire room and not be embarrassed by the other. If this distance is about 120 cm, then it's possible to work quite realistically, but you will have to move to miss another member of the family.
  2. If you have a modest room, it makes sense to place the main working area in the corner directly on the table top. Among all the basic principles of kitchen ergonomics, the working triangle is the most important: a refrigerator, a sink and a countertop . At the same time, it is necessary to separate at least 45x45 cm for work. There should be a distance of about 60 cm between the hinged structures and the working surface.
  3. Regarding the location of the cooker and refrigerator, it is important first of all to ensure safety when the oven is open. To do this, it is necessary to provide a free distance from the plate 102 cm, while the second wall or piece of furniture should be at least 120 cm.
  4. According to the ergonomics of the kitchen, for everyone sitting at the dinner table should be allocated at least 76 cm. The height of the table should ideally be 90 cm. These dimensions will allow the table to be used additionally as a workplace.

Ergonomics of the kitchen and proper planning - everything in the kitchen should be at hand

All that you use every day should be freely available. Conditionally the entire height of the kitchen can be divided into four zones. At a distance of 40 cm from the floor is the least convenient zone. It is perfect for storing heavy or rarely used items. At a distance of 40-75 cm are drawers and shelves, where it is convenient to store household appliances or large dishes. All seasonings or tallow appliances should be stored higher.

All fragile or small things are best placed at a height of 75 to 190 cm. All small kitchen appliances, utensils, products can be easily seen there, so it is convenient to work with them. At an altitude of more than 190 cm, you can place all those things that you get only in special cases or just keep a long time.

Ergonomics in interior design: a little bit about safety issues

The average height of a person is about 170 cm. Taking this into account, the distance from the work area to the cabinets should be approximately 45 cm. If this dimension is not met, head injuries are unavoidable. The most effective work is the hood at a height of 70-80 cm from the plate.

Important point: the hood above the gas stove is placed slightly higher than above the electric hob. The ergonomics of a small kitchen has its own characteristics. It is important to combine several functions in one (for example, combine a microwave and an oven). All corner cabinets are better equipped with a drawout system, and the facade itself is made laconic and simplistic.
