Facade plaster on foam plastic

Today, the issue of the insulation of houses and apartments is becoming more acute, because in this way considerable money is saved. For insulation, polystyrene is most often used. However, it requires protection from external influences. And with this excellent façade plaster on foam.

The process of plastering the facade with foam consists of several stages. Let's look at them in more detail.

External plaster on foam

First you need to find out which plaster is suitable for working with polystyrene foam. Specialists recommend using a mixture from one manufacturer for the building facade plaster . A universal mixture is prepared according to the instructions on the package. Remember that it is the dry mix that should be poured into the water, and not vice versa. The consistency of the mixture for gluing the plaster mesh should be liquid, and for the leveling layer the mixture should be diluted even more: it must flow off the spatula.

Foam sheets have a smooth surface, as well as an insignificant degree of adhesion. Therefore, in order to ensure that the plaster firmly adheres to the foam plastic, a special plastic mesh is used, which is fixed to the foam, and already a layer of plaster is applied on it.

First, the grid must be glued to the corners of the building. Using a wide spatula, apply a mixture of approximately 3 mm thick on the foam. Apply the mesh and carefully smooth the mixture so that the mesh is completely covered with it. After all mesh corners are glued, you can proceed to gluing it on the wall plane. One strip of mesh should overlap the previous one, and all joints should be carefully smeared with the mixture.

The glue so adhered should be grated with a grater with an emery cloth. Grout is made by drying the mixture. At the same time, some force must be applied, the circular motions must be directed counter-clockwise.

Now it is necessary to apply a leveling plaster layer about 3 mm thick. In a day, the leveling layer should be wiped in the same way as the mesh was rubbed. It should be remembered that the dried up leveling layer will be much more difficult to clean. At this stage, it is necessary to achieve the maximum level surface, this will determine the quality of the decorative finish.

The next step is to primer the surfaces of the walls of the building, which is produced by a roller with a short pile.

And the final stage of finishing the facade of the foam plastic is the application of decorative plaster. With a spatula, a layer of plaster is applied to a certain area, and then a decorative texture is formed using a sponge, spatula or float. After complete drying, the surface can be painted with facade paint.
