Fear of childbirth

Fear of childbirth is experienced by most pregnant women. Someone is afraid of the process itself to give birth, and someone simply fears the unknown. And, very often the fear of second births in women who give birth is the same or even stronger than that of newcomers. Psychologists say that all these anxious feelings are quite natural, and the main thing here is not to panic.

Aware - is it armed?

Thanks to the Internet, the abundance of literature and friends "with experience", almost every pregnant woman tries to get as much information as possible on how to overcome the fear of childbirth and prepare for the process. On the one hand, awareness is very good, but on the other hand, an abundance of information can on the contrary catch up with the worries of an already worried woman. Our tips for collecting information will be as follows:

  1. Trust only proven sources. If you see information with disappointing data about complications during the process or after childbirth, try to find it in other sources. Not always authors of articles use the checked up facts, therefore do not trust "blindly" to all written.
  2. Take a selective approach to the information that mothers tell you through birth. If the births were the same for everyone, then perhaps the stories of others would be more useful, but the body of every woman is individual, so it's not a fact that you will be giving birth to the day, as your girlfriend did.
  3. Listen to yourself and your body. Your body is only yours, your body is only yours and no one, except yourself, knows more than you. Previously, women gave birth in the field without the help of medical personnel and trusted only their inner sensations. Now we have the opportunity to trust ourselves, but under the supervision of doctors, multiplying the chances of a quick and easy success of the enterprise, called "birth without pain and fear."
  4. Joint birth. An important role in the preparation of births without fear is played by the attitude of the partner. Discuss the possibility of the presence of a loved one who will be able to support you during the fights. A loved one by his presence and care will certainly reduce the fear of pain during childbirth.
  5. Believe in the best. A well-known writer and expert in human souls, Paulo Coelho, said that "if you really want anything - the whole universe will help you in this." Positive attitude is already half the success. Try to calm down before giving birth and think about the long-awaited meeting with a little happiness, and then the process of birth will seem only a road that will necessarily lead you to your baby.

Distracted - have fun

Pregnant women are prone to excessive sensitivity and anxiety, and, therefore, can think of something superfluous. There are many ways to distract yourself from negative thoughts and tune in to a positive mood.

  1. Courses for pregnant women. Preparatory courses are good because experts will tell you how to calm down before giving birth, how to properly prepare your body for childbirth and the postpartum period.
  2. Physical training. Doing exercises is useful throughout pregnancy, it gives confidence, that you are prepared for birth not only morally, but also physically. In addition, physical activity contributes to the release of endorphins - hormones of happiness, which are so necessary for a pregnant woman.
  3. Observance of the regime. The correct regime of the day helps to improve mood and well-being. Be sure to include in the plan of daily activities a long stay in the fresh air. This is not only useful for you and the baby, but also helps to "ventilate" thoughts.
  4. Nice talking. Try not to focus only on yourself and your thoughts. Give more time to family and friends, and this, in turn, will give a charge of good mood and optimism.
