Folk festive rites

Each country is rich in different traditions. For example, there are many folk festive rituals, which are worth knowing, because some of them are held today.

Russian folk ceremonies

The history of the Slavs has more than one century. For 12 calendar months they celebrated far more than one holiday. On most of these festivities it was customary to wear the best of the available dresses. Also no less important is the fact that almost all the holidays were covered with a table with certain dishes. However, every folk festive rite in Russia had its own peculiarities. Let's talk about the most popular dates of that time.

One of the most grandiose holidays was Easter. We were preparing for this in advance. Easter is always celebrated on Sunday, but the main preparation for it begins on Thursday. On this day it is customary to completely remove the house, visit the bath, and most importantly, put the dough on the cake and bake it. Festive ceremonies associated with Easter are also in the coloring of eggs. This tradition is still observed by many people.

No less interesting is the Shrovetide. It lasts a whole week before Lent. These days bake pancakes, which symbolize the sun and the coming of spring. And on the last day of the celebration, a scarecrow is burnt. This folk festive rite in Russia is connected with the fact that the doll made symbolizes the winter, which must be burned for the rapid onset of warm weather.

Summer festive rites in Russia

Perhaps the most unusual tradition is the celebration of the summer solstice or Ivan Kupala . This night it is customary to light fires, gather near them and conduct various entertaining games. For example, jump in pairs through a burning fire. It was believed that this cleanses the person of the negative.

By the way, in former times it was often on this day that it was customary to negotiate with the young people among themselves about asking for a parental blessing for marriage. So we can say that this is also the date, in which the loving couples finally conspired to be together.

There is also such a festive rite as the seeing-off of the summer in the Honey and Apple Savior. It is believed that these days the summer ends precisely and it should be conducted with gratitude for the warm days and the opportunity to grow the harvest. In the Apple Savior harvested apples, this occurs after the Honey Spa. By the way, the first date associated with the end of the summer is celebrated specifically for the Honey Spas.
