Modern ritual of matchmaking is largely different from the ancient traditions and for today it is, first of all, a certain notification of the bride's relatives about the young people's intentions. Many traditions of the past have been lost, but, in general, there are still some beautiful customs of matchmaking.
How is the wedding ceremony?
In our time, this preparatory stage for a wedding is often missed, and it boils down to simply announcing to parents their own intentions. Despite this, it is possible to identify certain traditions that many continue to observe.
Rituals of matchmaking by the groom:
- Any family member can be a matchmaker, but only married.
- The groom should prepare two bouquets intended for the bride and her mother. It is best to know the symbols of the selected plants.
- Matchmakers should be the first to speak with the bride's parents and in all possible ways to solicit their hands from them.

Rituals of matchmaking by the bride:
- A symbolic dowry should be prepared, for example, it could be a shirt or a towel made by one's own hands.
- An important attribute is the pumpkin, which was given to matchmakers if the girl's parents did not like the groom.
- The future bride must be dressed in accordance with her status, but not provocatively. It is recommended to wear some amulets .
- After the matchmakers arrive, a dialogue takes place, where the future relatives find out all the questions of interest. By the way, newlyweds are often silent the whole evening.
Matchmakers can check the future wife and ask her to do something, for example, sweep the floor or cook some dish. If the bride's parents end up approving the groom, they should put the main dish on the table, for example, a cake.
