Training of a golden retriever

We must remember that the dogs of the Golden Retriever breed are hunting dogs. Their training is more difficult than training other dogs. The dog should not listen to the command "to the foot" or "next". She should already know that she should always go alongside the owner, in no case ahead of her, should not run around the field, if the landlord does not let go, she should not run into extraneous sounds without the host's command. Incorrect education of the retriever with participation in hunting can cause disobedience of the dog, and, as a consequence, its falling under the "crazy" bullet.

A golden retriever is considered more capricious than other retrievers, in fact, this dog is just very sensitive to how it is perceived. Therefore, when teaching some commands, the host should be ready for special psychological tricks so that the dog does not feel rejected. For example, in those moments when the dog will be taught to stop at the command of the owner at a time when the retriever is happily running towards.

In general, the training of the retriever is very difficult. Because their skills need to be honed to such an extent that the host does not have to give commands in voice, self-training can be an impossible task. It is better to apply to a special school for training retrievers - the program for training dogs of this breed is very different from the training of other breeds.

How to raise a golden retriever?

In the education of a golden retriever, several characteristics of the breed should be considered:

  1. Like all large and quiet dogs, the retriever's reactions are rather slow. If, by accustoming the puppy to run after the toy, throwing it too quickly and hurriedly, the retriever will simply not notice your movement. This does not mean that the dog is unhealthy, just because the features of the nature of the breed. Over time, when the dog gets used to such a game, it will become more attentive.
  2. Characteristics of the character are such that the pet sensitively reacts to how it is perceived in the family. If the dog is treated with attention and love, the retriever with pleasure participates in games and training, listens to the master and performs his commands. If to treat the retriever as furniture, the dog will become morose, stubborn, stop executing commands. But do not blame the dog for this, since the behavior of the golden retriever is a reflection of how it is treated.

Golden Retriever: Care

The main points of caring for this dog are as follows:

  1. Wool. A sufficiently long coat with a thick undercoat does not require such considerable efforts to keep it in good shape, as it may seem from the beginning. All dogs of the Golden Retriever breed differ from nature by very strong wool, unpretentious in care. It is enough only to regularly comb the pet's hair, and the appearance of the retriever will be very well-groomed.
  2. Maintaining a physical form. It is possible to maintain a dog in shape without much effort, if there is still a dog in the house, not necessarily of the same breed. A golden retriever does not tolerate loneliness at all, so he will not walk in the garden himself, but simply lies down and will wait for something. But the games with any other dog will not give up. If a four-footed friend does not have a retriever, you need to replace the lack of communication with constant training and games.
