A bit from the history of Graz
The first documentary evidence of this town dates back to 1128. The name Graz Slavic roots, it came from the word "hradec", which means "small fortress". The fortifications, which were erected in the 15th century, repeatedly withstood the siege of this stronghold of the Habsburg empire. The most luxurious building, built in the Italian style, was the palace of Eggenberg.

In the early 19th century, the city of Graz became a real concentration of Austrian culture. And although many historical monuments suffered during the Second World War, in the following years everything was safely restored.
