Blinds , in the dry language of definitions, are "a protective device consisting of plates through which the regulation of light and / or air flows can be carried out." Modern blinds are classified as a type of curtains. A classical variant of execution are horizontal blinds, which, depending on the material of manufacture and the attachment point, are divided into several types.
Types of horizontal blinds: attachment point
Blinds, as a product, are a kind of cloth from interconnected by means of a cord plates (slats) made of a particular material. For the operation of the blinds, the "cord-stick" system is used, where the cord is designed for lifting / lowering and fixing the blinds in a certain position, and the purpose of the cane is to rotate the slats. There are models of blinds, whose operation can be controlled remotely, using the remote control.
As a system to protect the room from bright light, can be installed inside the window aperture, outside the perimeter of the window opening (fastened to the wall above the window, to the side of the window opening or even to the ceiling) and between the window frames. There are also horizontal blinds for installation from the outside of the window - rafters.
Types of horizontal blinds: fabric
As already mentioned earlier, the component blinds are lamellas, which, in the form of a ladder, are "hooked up" onto the cord, being placed one above the other. It is according to the material of lamella production that one more division of the blinds into views is carried out. Consider the most popular of them:
- horizontal plastic blinds. As is clear from the title, the material for the manufacture of laths (slats) for blinds is plastic. Such blinds are most in demand among consumers. They are light, durable, do not require specific care. Produced in the widest color range and color combination;
- horizontal fabric shutters. Are issued in several variants depending on a way of folding - can be wound on a shaft (roller); fold by means of built-in small straps and cord. You can also include fabric blinds-pleated, which are assembled by an accordion, as well as a number of "personal" curtains-blinds - Roman , Australian, French. The fabric for making such blinds can be as dense enough (coarse linen, canvas, with a metallized thread) and light (chiffon, thin linen);
- horizontal wooden blinds. The lamellas in such blinds are made of very light wood species, for example, from a Canadian linden or cork tree, and processed according to a special technology. Durable, environmentally friendly, but heavy and quite expensive;
- horizontal blinds bamboo. Bamboo blinds have the same positive qualities as wooden ones, but at the same time (thanks to the properties of bamboo as a starting material) is much easier. And at a price more affordable;
- horizontal metal blinds (aluminum). Such blinds are extremely easy to operate, perfectly protect against direct sunlight, while retaining some of the heat. Most often used in domestic or office premises.
Horizontal blinds in the interior
For residential premises, this or that type of blinds is selected depending on the style of the interior. Plastic blinds can be considered universal, but they are usually used in combination with curtains and curtains, and not as an independent element of window decoration. Cloth horizontal blinds are most often used in kitchens with windows facing south, especially since such blinds are harmonious for all styles of interior design. For interiors in the styles of ethno or country, wooden or bamboo blinds will do. And for modern techno styles, it's better to choose horizontal roll blinds from fabrics with dust repellent impregnation.
