How to properly plant pineapple at home?

It is very important to choose a good planting material - it's a pappus (green top) from a ripe pineapple fruit. It should have strong green leaves without stains. Separate the tuft from the fetus, turning it gently. As practice shows, to plant a pineapple, you can also cut off the tip with a sharp knife, separate the pulp from it and leave it to dry for a few days.

Then you should wait for the appearance of roots. To do this, the trunk is put into the water, periodically replacing it. After 3-4 weeks, roots will appear from below. When their length reaches a few centimeters, you can plant pineapple in the ground.

The pot should be chosen small, in diameter it should be equal to the green top of the pineapple. The soil itself usually consists of a mixture of river sand, peat and ordinary earth for indoor plants. Mix them in equal proportions and place the substrate in the pot. At the bottom of the tank, pour the expanded clay or gravel in order to provide the plant with good drainage. Place the pineapple in a well-lit place, but be sure to shade it to prevent direct sun rays.

The fact that the plant is well established, you will understand by the new leaflets, which will appear in 7-8 weeks. The old leaves will gradually turn brown and die. They should be carefully trimmed, giving a place of fresh greens.

Watering a room pineapple is carried out not more often than once a week. The soil should be kept moist, but the water should not stagnate in the pot, but flow through the drainage holes.

Transplantation in a more spacious pot will require an overgrown plant in about a year. Part of the soil should be replaced with a fresh and more nutritious substrate, adding a little mixture for cacti.
