The park is bordered by an equally beautiful Brazilian park under the same name - Parque Nacional Iguazú. Both are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Where is the Iguazu National Park?

As noted earlier, the Iguazu Reserve is located in the Argentine country, namely in the southern hemisphere, in the northern province of Misiones, in the Argentine Mesopotamia.

General information about the Iguazu National Park

10 thousand years ago the park area was inhabited by hunters and collectors of Eldoradense culture. Subsequently, they were replaced by guarani, a group of Indian peoples of South Africa, who brought their own agricultural technologies to this area. And already in the XVI century, their place was occupied by Portuguese and Spanish conquistadors. The first European, who in 1542 set foot on the land of the current Iguazu, became Cabez de Vaca.

The year of foundation of the park is considered to be 1934, but only in 1970 it received the status of the National Park . In the protected area of Iguazu, any construction not coordinated with the government is considered illegal. It was allowed only the creation of an international airport and tourist hotels in the heart of the Iguazu Park, surrounded by jungles and singing exotic birds.

In 1990, the south-eastern part of the national pride of the country was increased by 84,000 hectares. In the near future the park is planned to be included in the Trilateral Biodiversity Corridor. Iguazu Park will be included in the list of protected flora and fauna of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
