Internal motivation

The concept of internal motivation means a person's desire to do something for the sake of this activity. It comes at a subconscious level and requires the individual to achieve the set goals and objectives. A person motivated internally, does not give in to the influence of external motivations, he simply enjoys the work being done.

Studies show that individuals who have internal motivation factors are more likely to succeed in life than those who are motivated externally. They are interested in the activities carried out and for the sake of their own pleasure they try to do it in the best possible way. Motivated externally, however, will not perform qualitatively activities that they no longer encourage from outside. For example, by teaching a child to do something for a candy, parents should know that his activities will end when the sweetness ends.

Most psychologists support the theory of external and internal motivation. This theory is most vividly represented in the behavioral studies. It is based on a personality influenced by internal or external factors. An example of this statement can be a student, while he learns for the pleasure of the learning process, he is motivated by inner motivation. Once he starts to see a different benefit (parents will buy a bicycle for good grades) an external motivation is triggered.

External and internal motivation of the personnel

This teaching is very important in the organization of work. It is necessary that the staff move personal aspirations to achieve the goal. The method of the carrot and stick, of course effective, but still the personal interest of employees in the work is more weighty. Internal motivation of work can include the following aspirations: self-realization, conviction, dreams, curiosity, need for communication, creativity. External: career, money, status, recognition.

Psychologists advise to develop the interest of employees in the work through the training of internal motivation.

Goals and objectives of the training:

  1. Ensuring successful experience with the employee.
  2. Provide incentives and support in difficulties.
  3. Using verbal encouragement along with material.
  4. Inclusion of personnel in various activities.
  5. Involvement of employees in the independent solution of issues.
  6. Putting before the employees of real tasks, comparable to their capabilities.

Thus, managing the internal and external factors of motivation, the company management can improve the psychological state of employees and thereby regulate work processes.
