Rainbow cichlasma is a territorial fish that has a bright and attractive color. In nature, this species lives in cychlum in the Usumacinta River and its basins that pass through Mexico, Guatemala (also found near Yucatán).

This species of fish is large enough and can grow up to 30 cm in the wild (in aquarium conditions it is much less). The body of the rainbow is strong and powerful, oblong in shape. These fish have a bright purple color, turning into yellow (with a variety of impregnations). Care for cichlids in the aquarium is simple enough. They easily get along with other cichlids and even fish of other breeds. The most comfortable they will feel if:
- the volume of the aquarium will exceed 200 liters;
- the water temperature will not be less than 25 and not more than 30 degrees;
- stiffness - about 15 percent;
- The aquarium will be equipped with a variety of shelters (stones, caves);
- in the aquarium will be placed a variety of hardwood and floating plants.
Water should always be clean, as these fish can easily appear skin inflammation in the form of growths. Cichlid iridescent is not periborchiva in food, so it can be bought as live food (pipe-makers, sea fish, shrimp), and vegetable (or at all substitutes). As for reproduction, puberty in iridescent cichlases occurs at the age of two. Breeding is possible both in the spawning aquarium, and in general.
