Lesama Park

One of the main attractions of Buenos Aires and at the same time a favorite place for walks of local residents is Parque Lezama, located in the San Telmo district .

In the old days

The first mention of the park dates back to the 16th century. Historians argue that it was in these places that the first settlement was broken up, which over time grew and became the capital of the state. Centuries-old history of Lesam recalls the times when slave trade was conducted here, dueling took place, the British lived.

The land of the park was always owned by the Lesam family, however, in the 19th century, the widow of the landowner sold them to the city authorities. The main conditions of the transaction were the requirements to turn the garden into the public domain and name it in honor of the former owner.
