Legendary origin

The construction of the skyscraper is covered with legends. It is well known that he was sponsored by Korina Kavanagh - a representative of a rich, but not distinguished Irish family. There are several versions of why the building was built so as to obscure the view of the Basilica of the Holy Sacrament:

  1. Corina was an opponent of Catholicism.
  2. Madame Kavanagh wanted to take revenge on the representative of the aristocratic Argentinean family Anchoren, whose palace was also located on San Martin Square. Mercedes Anchorena was considered the patroness of the basilica. According to one version, arrogant arrogants did not want to be related to Corina (or her daughter), who fell in love with one of their offspring. On the other hand, a rich patron of arts wanted to take revenge on the proud aristocrats for contempt of their origin and to shield their view of the basilica.
