Redemption Room


The sight with an unusual name "The Room of Redemption" is in Peru , in the city of Cajamarca. It is believed that it was here that for more than half a year Atahualpa was held captive and this room was filled with gold for his ransom.

History of the "Room"

In short this story looked like this. Francisco Pizarro, wishing to conquer new lands, landed in Peru. The basis of Pizarro's strategy was the capture of the Inca ruler in captivity. After all, without a leader, the Incas will not be able to resist for long. So Atahualpa was taken prisoner. Wanting to get free as soon as possible, the ruler suggested that Pizarro fill the room, where it is kept, with gold and the next one with silver twice. Francisco agreed to such a deal. For more than three months the Incas collected precious metals, melted silver and gold products. As a result, colossal volumes were collected. But Pizarro, fearing persecution on the part of the released Atahualpa, without waiting for payment, executed him.

The current state of the "Redemption Rooms"

What will the tourists see after going to look at the "Redemption Room"? They will see a standard Inca structure made of volcanic stone with sloping walls. And this is the uniqueness of the building. After all, it is currently the only Inca building preserved in Cajamarca.

Now the "Room of Redemption" is in a rather deplorable state. The building hit the fungus and mold, and the wind also inflicts great harm to it. But scientists are making numerous attempts to preserve the building.
