Melbourne Zoo is one of the oldest in Australia . It was founded in 1862 and at the same time met its first visitors. It was organized by the employees of the Zoological Society, and a place was allocated on the territory of the Royal Park with an area of ​​22 hectares. Now in the Melbourne Zoo is represented by about three hundred species of animals from around the world.

Internal organization

In the beginning, only domestic animals were kept here, and a little later, beginning in 1870, lions, tigers, monkeys were brought to the zoo. The whole area is artificially divided into climatic zones in which various representatives of flora and fauna live:
