Mombasa Airport

Moi International Airport, located 13 km from the city of Mombasa , is considered one of the largest in Kenya . If you flew to Africa on business or just planned an exciting trip around the country, it's unlikely that you pass it. The airport was built in the urban suburb of Port Ritz and serves both local and intercontinental flights.

What is the airport allocated for?

The airport of Mombasa includes two terminals. It serves both the city itself and the surrounding areas. From the largest and busiest airport of Jomo Kenyatta this point of air travel is 425 km apart. It is in the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Airways of Kenya and is named after former Kenyan President Daniel Arap Moi. The distance from Moi to the city center is 10 km.

At the airport there are only 2 runways, built at an altitude of 61 m above sea level:

Band 1 is also equipped with special equipment to ensure the safe landing of airliners. At the airport, airplanes belonging to Condor, ZanAir, Turkish Airlines regularly land. Ethiopian Airlines, Sky Aero, RwandAir, Fly540, Neos, Jambo Jet, Kenya Airways, Mombasa Air Safari, Meridiana, LOT Polish Airlines and others - only 19 pieces. The final arrival points for aircrafts taking off in Mombasa are very diverse: Nairobi , Zanzibar , Addis Ababa, Frankfurt, Munich, Moroni, Dar es Salaam , Warsaw, Milan, Rome, Istanbul, Bologna, Dubai.

Passengers begin to register for 2-2.5 hours before departure. The same applies to their luggage. Registration ends 40 minutes before takeoff. To get on board the liner, bring your ticket and passport with you. If you have an e-ticket, you will only need an identity document.

At the airport there is a large parking. Transfers to the building and from it are provided by buses "matata" or taxi by Kenatco. If your flight is not a long time, evaluate the comfort of the business class lounge. Also there are post office, currency exchange, lost and found office, medical center, pharmacy, ATMs and storage rooms, shops and catering establishments. Here you can also book a fascinating excursion to the tourist office or rent a car immediately.

How to get there?

There are not many options for getting to the airport: they are either local buses, which, however, stop on the highway, so you'll have to walk 10 minutes, or taxi or own cars. If you drive a car from the city center, follow the A109 until you reach the crossroads from Magongo Road. Turn right and in about 15 minutes you are expected to turn left at Airport Road, which will take you to your destination.
