History of the Viking Museum Lofotr

Archaeological excavations in this part of Norway began in 1983. From 1986 to 1989 in the territory of the current museum of Lokotr Vikings, major scientific research was conducted, as a result of which it was possible to find the ruins of an ancient Viking building. The scientists came to the conclusion that this was the home of the leader Ottaru, built in 950 AD.

In 2006, it was decided to build a large amphitheater. But later objects near the Viking Museum of Lofotr were discovered that could be used 2000 years ago as a kitchen. Because of this, the expansion of the museum was postponed indefinitely.
