Methods to combat astigmatism are constantly being improved, and ophthalmologists are developing new approaches to solving this problem. To date, only three modes of therapy are considered effective: correction of vision through glasses and lenses, hardware and surgical effects. The choice of technique depends on the stage of development of astigmatism - treatment with the help of surgery is not required for mild disease.

Treatment of astigmatism in the eyes at home

Independently get rid of the disease, of course, will not work, but it is possible to prevent its progression, the development of myopia or hyperopia. Home methods of therapy consist in the performance of special gymnastics and the use of medicines from traditional medicine.

It is worth noting that eye exercises with astigmatism are not very effective, but with prolonged and regular training you can correct the ability to focus, train eye muscles, prevent loss of vision.

Ophthalmologists recommend gymnastics developed by two well-known authors - Bates and Norbekov. The proposed exercises help reduce the burden on the eyes, improve visual acuity, but only with mild degrees of astigmatism.

Treatment of astigmatism with folk remedies

Alternative medicine is also considered an auxiliary method in the complex treatment of the disease, since it performs more preventive functions than therapeutic ones.

Mixtures of juices:

1. Combine freshly squeezed carrot, beet and cucumber juices in 3: 1: 1 proportions.
2. Mix 7 servings of carrot fresh with aloe juice, parsley and celery (2 parts each).
3. The first mixture to drink in the morning and in the evening, the second - for lunch, 160 ml.

Blueberry infusion:

1. Leave the plant leaves, put a tablespoon of raw material in a glass of hot water and stir.
2. Leave for 60 minutes.
3. Strain the infusion, drink it 2-3 times.

Surgical treatment of astigmatism

This method is prescribed only in the case when visual acuity is rapidly decreasing, and conservative methods of therapy, such as wearing glasses, contact lenses, taking special medications, do not help.

There are three types of operational correction of vision used for this refractive error:

1. Keratomy. Suitable for the treatment of complex myopic astigmatism. Surgical intervention is the application of microscopic cilia (non-blind) to the cornea of ​​the eye.
2. Thermokerokerocoagulation. Used in the treatment of a disease accompanied by hypermetropia. It suggests an increase in the curvature and refractive power of the cornea with a special metal needle heated to the desired temperature.
3. Laser coagulation. The procedure is similar to the previous operation, but instead of a mechanical effect, astigmatism is treated with a laser. The operation is considered to be the most effective, it is used to treat pathology of any form and severity.

Medication and apparatus treatment of astigmatism

These two methods are not accidentally considered together, since they are used in parallel.

Preparations to combat astigmatism should be selected by an ophthalmologist. As a rule, eye drops are recommended that promote relaxation of the eye muscles, reducing their fatigue, relieving tension.

Effective hardware techniques:

• glasses-massager;
• laser infrared therapy;
• electrophoresis (device "NION");
• stimulation by the adaptation "Falcon";
• exposure to the device "Brook";
• electrostimulation of ESP-2.

The listed technologies are usually applied if astigmatism is complicated by amblyopia , myopia.
