New Russian fashion: the revival of traditions

If a few years ago, most Russian designers blindly copied the images created by Italian and French fashion designers, today they are increasingly turning to their own culture and are looking for inspiration in Russian fairy tales. This, perhaps, is the right way for those who were born and raised in Russia. After all, to invent and develop something new and unique, based on what is close, much more pleasant and more promising.

Elements of folk style in your wardrobe

Inspired by the latest collections of Russian designers, we will consider several ideas on how to add a touch of traditional Russian style to the image:

  1. Patterns and ornaments. Today, quite often you can meet girls, wrapped in a handkerchief or a knitted shawl with traditional Pavlov-Posad patterns and ornaments. But, unfortunately, not every one of these handkerchiefs looks good. And the main mistake is how it is tied. A complex pattern does not imply negligence in circulation. Remember the illustrations to the old Russian fairy tales. For example, a handkerchief, gently tied around the head, will allow you to create a very gentle and mysterious image. But, perhaps, the most advantageous variant to demonstrate the richness of the pattern is to throw a handkerchief, folded diagonally, on the shoulders. Do not forget that the brightest element will look the best with monophonic and simple things.
  2. Lace and embroidery. Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Krestetsk, Nizhny Novgorod - long ago, every Russian county had its own embroidery technique. It was believed that the symbols depicted on clothes, can save from evil spirits and bring good luck to its owner. Today it is rather difficult to find a skilled craftswoman who knows the hand-made embroidery (and the price of such a thing will be appropriate). However, in some shops or online fairs, you can find interesting blouses and dresses with high-quality machine embroidery, which does not differ in appearance from hand-made, but it costs several times cheaper. Another element that can ennoble and give a zest to any image is lace. And it is not necessary to look for a finished thing with lace. In the sewing shops you can find varieties of lace for every taste and purse. Then you just need to gently sew it on the hem of the dress or to the collar of a classic blouse. To further emphasize the Russian style, look for lace with a pronounced pattern and background. It is thanks to this feature that many years ago Vologda lace became famous, which is now used in collections of both Russian and European designers.
  3. Traditional silhouettes. The fashion again returned to simple silhouettes and shapes. Russian designers hastened to take advantage of this and launched collections full of traditional costume elements: shirts with wide sleeves, trapezoid dresses, breastplates with aprons, and straight sarafans.

The most important thing is to know the measure

Creating an image in the style of a la Rus, try not to overdo it. For example, combining a bright shawl, a sarafan and a sheepskin in one set, you will certainly attract attention to yourself, but only as an object of ridicule and discussion. A modern Russian lady is an intelligent girl or woman who prefers classical styles, diluted with stylish nuances borrowed from traditional costumes. It can be not only the individual elements listed above, but also a certain combination of colors, textures and cut lines.

Do not be afraid of experiments and rely on your intuition, which will tell you which image to choose.
