Planting of early cabbage in the ground

Cabbage is present in the daily diet of those who love borsch , cabbage soup or those who consider themselves adherents of proper nutrition. Cabbage is valued for its contained vitamins and as an excellent dietary product. And many owners of summer cottages and plots decide to grow this crop on their own. I especially want to get my own harvest in my own hands in the summer. True, many gardeners may have problems with planting early cabbage in the open field and caring for it.

Planting of early cabbage in the soil - soil preparation and timing

The land is planted for cabbage, if possible, from the autumn. The site is chosen sunny, open, preferably located on the southern slope. The best predecessors of cabbage are potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, onions. Do not plant agricultural crops after radish, tomato, beet, radish. Cabbage prefers soils loose, loamy, with a neutral reaction. The earth is deeply digged, fertilizers are introduced into it. If the fall is not repaired in the autumn, it is produced in a few days to plant the vegetable.

As for the timing of planting early cabbage in the soil, the end of April - the beginning of May (for seedlings) is optimal for this purpose. If the cultivation of agricultural crops will be made from seeds, the planting will be performed in mid-April.

Planting seedlings of early cabbage in the open ground

As a rule, cabbage is grown in rows in rows. If we talk about the scheme of planting early cabbage in the open ground through seedlings, then it fits 60x35-50 cm best. This means that the rows are 60 cm apart. Planting holes in them are closed at a distance of 35-60 cm. A closer distance is not recommended, since in this case the heads will develop small. Planting holes are wide and deep. The seedlings in them are planted to the level of the first real leaf, then watered.

If you decide to grow early cabbage in the open ground in a non-seedlings way, then the seeds should be prepared. They are first poured hot water (not boiling water!) For 15-20 minutes, then cold and put on the day in the refrigerator. In the open ground, cabbage seeds are sown to a depth of 1-1.5 cm at a distance of 10-15 cm from each other. To protect against low temperatures, it is recommended that the area with seedlings be loosely covered with a film. It can be pulled on metal arcs. Before emergence, the soil should be ventilated and moistened. Remove the film. After 2 weeks, planting can be eroded. "Extra" plants can be dived, planting seedlings elsewhere.
