Based on the clinical picture, the doctor prescribes an examination of the adrenal glands. Informative is the following diagnostic methods for tumors:
- Laboratory examination of blood and urine for hormones.
- Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging with a high degree of probability can determine the tumor. With the help of ultrasound, as a rule, only new growths of large sizes are detected.
- To detect the presence of metastases, X-rays of lungs and radioisotope scanning of the skeleton are prescribed.

The most effective method of treatment of the adrenal gland is surgical intervention. The removal operation is performed in an open way or laparoscopically (through several small holes). Chemotherapy can be used to treat certain types of adrenal tumors. An important part of therapy is lowering blood pressure.
