Rapeseed oil - useful properties

Rape is an agricultural oilseed herbaceous plant of the cruciferous family. Oil is obtained by pressing from seeds, in which the fat content is up to 50%. It is used both in the food industry and in cosmetology, and for technical purposes.

Composition

Unrefined rapeseed oil contains up to 64% erucic and up to 8% ecosenic acid. It is proved that erucic acid in high concentration can cause harm to health, have a negative impact on the cardiovascular system, lipid metabolism, liver and kidney function. Therefore, for the food industry and in cosmetology, oil from mutant varieties of rapeseed harvested by Canadian breeders is used, with a fraction of erucic acid no more than 5%. This oil (canola) contains linoleic, oleic and alpha-linoleic fatty acids, as well as a rich complex of vitamins, primarily tocopherols (vitamins of group E).

Application

When ingested, rapeseed oil reduces cholesterol in the blood, promotes the cleavage and elimination of excess fats, improves metabolism, accelerates cellular regeneration by increasing the intake of oxygen to cells.

Cosmetic effects:

In cosmetic products it is recommended to use in a mixture with almond, peach or apricot oils (in the ratio of not more than 1: 2) or in similar mixtures. The optimum concentration of rapeseed oil in cosmetics is up to 10%. Contraindication for the use of refined rapeseed oil is only individual intolerance.
