Russian Holidays

The multi-million country Russia has a calendar in which among the everyday days several hundred holidays are celebrated. Even the child knows the most expected of them, others are known only to a narrow circle of people whose professionalism is appreciated by the state. The main Russian holidays, which the whole country celebrates, include international, state and national, based on Christian and folk traditions.

The red day of the calendar is considered to be a non-working day. The authorities reserved the right to add a day off, if the holiday falls on a Sunday or give people a few days to rest, which is very convenient for family meetings. Pre-holiday day, as a rule, is reduced by one hour for any duration of the working day. Unexpected vacations of parents are the most loved by children.

The most famous holidays that Russia celebrates

January

New Year begins on January 1, remaining the most favorite holiday. The decree of Peter 1 so firmly embedded in our lives, that through many centuries, its branches remain unchanged, spruce branches, a festive dinner and a solemn salute. On January 7, all Christians celebrate Christmas , which does not have the status of state, but is officially recognized as a weekend. February

The official Russian holiday is February 23 as the Defender of the Fatherland Day . Athletes, scientists, civil aviation and transport police solemnly celebrate their day in February, respectively, February 7, 9 and 18. It is impossible not to mention the International Mother Language Day (February 21) and the Day of Lovers (February 14).

March

Almost every date in March is marked as a professional holiday. On March 1st, even cats celebrate their day. For all citizens of Russia, the International Women's Day was always a day off on March 8. Before the Great Lent began, for a long time, the tradition of celebrating Maslenitsa , which lasts a week and ends with Forgiveness Sunday, is left.

In April there are no state Russian holidays. But, even the children know that April 1 is the Day of Laughter , and April 12 is Cosmonautics Day . Many everyday life, as a tribute of respect, was given to great historical events and security services.

May

May 1 is called the Holiday of Spring and Labor , and on May 9 - the most beautiful and the Greatest holiday of the Victory Day of the Soviet people over fascism. Many calendar dates are indicated by military specialties, such as 7, 8, 13, 18, 21 and 29 May.

June

An important date is June 12, recognized as the Day of Russia . On the 1st of every day the International Children's Day is celebrated all over the world, and 27 is the Day of Youth . July

In July there are no red dates, but the 7th is famous for people's Ivan Kupala , 28 - the Day of the Baptism of Rus , 10 - the Fisherman's Day . There are also many professional, whose name speaks of the strength and glory of the country.

August

In August, miners celebrate their day (August 28), film workers (August 27), builders (August 14), railway workers (August 7) ​​and servicemen of certain professions. August 22 is recognized as the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation .

September

The month traditionally begins September 1 from the Day of Knowledge and is famous for its many Days of Glory (September 2,8,11,21), although it has no official days off.

October

The fifth day of October is celebrated by teachers, the 9th by agricultural workers, and the 30th by motorists. Many dates are devoted to other equally important military and peaceful professions.

November

November 4 is marked by the Day of National Unity , which is marked in red on the calendar. For more than a decade, November 7 marks the Day of the October Revolution of 1917.
