Shielding on houseplants

Shield is an extremely unpleasant insect, affecting leaves and trunks of indoor plants.

What does the scabbard look like?

Insects are like drops, staining leaves. Their appearance is also somewhat similar to turtles, because of the dense "shell", that is, the shield that covers the body of this pest. It is very similar to the scabbard and its "sister" in the family - a false fence. The only difference between them is that false pins and their scutellum represent a single organism, even under the microscope you can see the organs of vision located on the scaffold. The "shell" can be removed from the shields, while she herself will continue to sit on the sheet.

Shielding and false piercing are pests, you must get rid of them. Measures to combat both "sisters" are almost the same.

Shielding on indoor plants is quite amenable to destruction, only fighting with it will require stubbornness and perseverance. Just so to collect the entire scutellum is not enough, as it will not be enough and simple treatment of the plant with a solution of soap. Although some gardeners say that it is the soap solution that helps to cope with this pest, it is wiser to resort to additional spraying with insecticides.

How to get rid of a scabbard?

To do this, follow these rules:

  1. Careful and regular inspection of the plant under the magnifying glass. Most often, insects accumulate in the axils of the leaves.
  2. Sick plants must be urgently isolated from others. It is advisable generally to transfer them to another window sill in another room. The place where the pot with the affected flower was standing is carefully treated with a soap solution, then with an insecticide.
  3. Insects from a diseased plant need to be removed. This is done with a cotton swab dipped in an insecticide solution. It is important not to replace the insecticide with alcohol or kerosene, as the plant can get burns, and then it will have to be treated from two "sores". It is also not advisable to use oil - it clogs the pores of the plant.
  4. The youngest scutes "wander" through the plant, so they can hide from the primary treatment. To find them, you need to treat the whole plant with a soap solution (you can replace the soap with tobacco infusion). The plant is not just rinsed, but thoroughly washed with a brush (you can use a toothbrush with soft bristles).
  5. After the soap or tobacco solution has been washed away, the plant is set to dry.
  6. Repeated treatment with insecticides, including spraying the soil. Immediately after this, the plant is covered with a plastic bag so that the air does not penetrate inside. Leave the package for 40 minutes, no more.
  7. Within two days after such treatment all remaining scabbards should die, and it is necessary to thoroughly rinse the plant again.
  8. Even if the dead shards are not visible, the plant still needs an additional bath procedure to remove the remnants of insecticides.
  9. This procedure will need to be repeated every week until there is no trace left of the scabbard. If the plant is not neglected, the scabbard should completely disappear as early as the second week after the application of such a comprehensive measure.

How to fight with a shield using natural poisons?

No less popular means of scab is the poison from colorado. It is sold under the name "Aktary". It is necessary to dilute the sachet in a liter of water. Then just water this plant with a plant. Water two or three times. Within a week the scabbard should perish.

After the plant is rehabilitated, it is necessary to repeat the procedure once a year to avoid the return of the scab.

An excellent means of preventing scabbards is the regular airing and spraying of plants.
