Factory history and current state

The factory was built in 1721 during the reign of Philip V, who during the war lost some territories and the crown was left without its production of textile tapestries, carpets and panels. The tapestry factory in Madrid produces quality, natural and expensive products, 70 of which Francisco Goya himself wrote. Some of the products came to decorate the Royal Palace , some are kept in museums and private collections. Since then, this manufactory is the property of Spain and is famous throughout the world for high quality and tradition.

How to visit the Royal Tapestry Factory?

Visits of tourists are conducted by preliminary recording of groups on weekdays from ten to two o'clock in the afternoon. The cost for adults and students is € 3, for people under 12 years - free. The tapestry factory is located in the center of Madrid, near the Retiro Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens . The nearest metro station is Atocha .
