The Umbra Violet

The Umburian violet or the city is called "the queen of houseplants", because it pleases its owners with year-round flowering. There are many different varieties of the Umbra violet, among which there are such original ones as Lord of the Rings, Frost Cherry, Sensation, etc. The motherland of the violet is the Uzambar Mountains, which are located in the eastern part of Africa. The Uzambara violet is one of those indoor flowers that do not require laborious care . However, some nuances should be known.

How to care for the Zambian violet?

Cultivation of the violet violet is necessary at a temperature from +17 to +24 ° C, but the optimum temperature is + 20 ° С. At this temperature, the senpolia normally grows and blossoms, if the temperature is lower, it will slow the growth of the rosettes, make the flowers bloom more saturated and affect the appearance of varietal features.

Violets feel good when humidity is about 60-70%. In winter, at low humidity, it is necessary to moisten the air near the plants, but it is not recommended to spray water on the crown of the flowers. A good way to increase the humidity for plants is to fill the tray with small claydite and pour water on half the tray. The poles are afraid of drafts and direct sunlight. In the summer, the violets are best placed on the windowsill on the east and west sides, and in the winter - on the south.

To water a violet it is necessary accurately, is better than all long thin syringing, not filling in leaves and a point of growth. Pour water with a thin trickle, not blurring the soil, or you can also drop the pot into a container of water by a third. Water for irrigation can be used tap water, having previously defended it for several days.

With proper care of the Zambrian violet, neither diseases nor pests are afraid of it.

Reproduction of the Zambian violet

To transplant an adult Uzambara violet is best in fresh soil twice a year after the period of autumn and spring flowering. One of the most common ways of reproduction of the Umbra violet is the reproduction of leaf and leaf cuttings. Cuttings of violets are best in spring or summer.

The first method of reproduction is the rooting of violets in water. Take healthy strong cuttings from adult plants, preferably from the second lower row, and make a straight or oblique (at an angle of 45 °) cut at a distance of 3-4 cm from the leaf plate. We put the sheet in a clean (better even in sterilized) glassware with boiled or settled water to a depth of 1.5-2 cm. At the same time, the lower edge of the cut should not touch the bottom or walls of the container. In water, you can add a small piece of activated carbon to destroy harmful flora, water should be added as evaporation, but not changed. Different varieties of violets take root in different ways: on average from 2 weeks to a month. After the appearance of a root cuttings 1-2 cm long, it should be planted in an earthen mixture. Watered planted plant should be slightly warm sedimented water.

The second method of rooting violets gives practically 100% rooting of cuttings. The method of rooting cuttings in a substrate is ideal for miniature violets. Thanks to this method, roots and babies appear much faster. We make the same cut as for the first method, and plant in a small plastic pot. At the bottom of the tank, about 1/3, you need to pour the drainage: baked in the oven claydite or polystyrene, and then the earth mixture. We make a deepening and fill it with perlite, mixed with an earth mixture in the proportions 1: 3. We plant in this mixture a stalk for 1-1.5 cm for standard varieties and cover the plant with a sachet. As the soil is drying, soft watering with boiled water is recommended.
