Thrombophilia and pregnancy

Thrombophilia is a disorder in which there is an increased tendency to form blood clots in the body - blood clots that can clog the blood vessels. Thrombophilia, observed in pregnancy, can have both a hereditary character and be provoked by physiological disorders in the body. Let's take a closer look at this phenomenon and tell about the features of the course of thrombophilia in pregnant women.

Because of what can thrombophilia occur during the bearing of the child?

As usual, pregnancy can observe both genetic (congenital) and acquired thrombophilia.

The first form of the disease is hereditary; is transmitted from parents to the child. In other words, if the mother or father had this disorder, then the likelihood of having a baby with a given disease is high. As a rule, women, long before they plan a pregnancy, are aware of the existence of such a violation.

The acquired form of the disease is the result of a transferred injury or disease. Also, one can include here mutations of genes, which later in pregnancy can lead to the development of thrombophilia. Mutations themselves arise as a result of a violation of the process of dividing the chickens at the stage of embryo formation from the fetal egg. This can lead to external influences of unfavorable factors (work on harmful production, living in industrial areas, etc.). Completely the mechanism of occurrence of separate types of gene mutations has not yet been studied.

What threatens thrombophilia to the future mother and her baby?

Before telling how dangerous thrombophilia is during pregnancy, it should be noted that in women the third circle of blood circulation forms. As a result of increasing the load on the heart system, the risk of developing thrombosis in pregnant women with this disease rises 4-5 times!

That is why thrombophilia during pregnancy can have negative consequences, first of all for the baby itself. Blood clots in the vessels can provoke the development of such a violation as placental insufficiency, which is manifested in fetal hypoxia and delay in its development.

However, the most unfortunate consequence of such a violation during pregnancy is miscarriage, which can occur absolutely at any time.

How is thrombophilia treated during pregnancy?

Ideally, thrombophilia should be treated before pregnancy, when planning it. However, very often women learn about the violation after conception.

In such cases, they are prescribed treatment. The therapeutic complex at the same time includes taking medications, adherence to the regime and diet. The basis of drug treatment is anticoagulants. These include warfarin, dextran, heparin, and others.

Diet of a pregnant woman with a disease such as thrombophilia, involves the inclusion in the diet of products that contribute to reducing blood clotting. These include dried fruits, seafood, ginger, berries.
